Hooray...my favicon in chrome

On some days I just get in the mood of destructing the blog and see how worse it could go. Today it was 'favicon'.

I would have opened and executed instructions from about 20 different pages and ended up being frustrated.

If the favicon shows up in one browser, it would play hide and seek in another. I was in no mood to give up. The most frustrating thing was that google's chrome was the browser that was so adamant in refusing to show the favicon. Next in the order of difficulty was the IE. Firefox is the best as far as this exercise was concerned :)

To cut a L story S, here is where you will get a workable solution for your favicon. Thank you so much for that!

  1. First things first - backup the existing template (you never know, you might need it immediately!)

  2. Go here;  be ready to spare a few minutes for the usual signup-mail verification-activation.

  3. Log in and upload the file and you will be presented with options for converting image to .ico. Really cool stuff.

  4. Code for the hosted file is available on a platter which should be placed before the tag
...and that's it.

That I struggled for more than an hour in chrome (Google after google after google...) to be able to display favicon in chrome is the irony.
