Going around

It has been quite sometime since I travelled to Delhi, almost six months. When we have references like time gaps acting as reminders we really get a sense of time that has flown while we were too busy handling day after day...and before we realise, months disappear.Time waits for nothing.

This time I am on a round trip. Kolkata, Delhi, Pune, Mumbai and back to Bangalore. It's a pity I won't be able to spend a leisurely evening in any of these cities. The Kolkata trip went uneventful. No time for the sweet dishes there. It's a crime.

Delhi presented a developing face. Spots of constructions are almost complete and traffic takes better routes rather than drive arounds. Development work around airport seems almost complete and a good number of policemen were skilfully managing traffic. Good sign! As usual, there were a number of high end cars that kept breaking their guidelines but the policemen were very firm. That's an unusually sight and definitely a positive change. Will they hold up against all the forces? I wish them all the luck.

The city is gearing up for the Games. Looks like they will get the infra up and running on time, after all.

I always love readingthe Hindustan Times while in Delhi. It has a typically Delhi flavour. I can't explain what it is but reading this paper makes one fell undeniably being in Delhi. Back in Bangalore, I can't miss the Times of India even for a day but the Times of India published in Delhi looks pathetic. Even the paper quality is lousy. What kind of marketing strategy is this?

The papers are full of IPL news. But the highlight in Delhi's papers is snatching of chains and other valuables by bike borne miscreants. Most cities have this problem but it looks like Delhi is seized of late. About 190 cases already in 2010.The statistics also indicate that on any given day atleast five people end up as victims of this crime. I hope the law is established before this city gets all the visitors for the games.

Delhi has been declared as the most livable city. That's some news.

I am off to Pune tomorrow. I just love that city....here I come!
